In this Bright Data review we explain what each product does, what it costs, who can access residential proxies, and when it is — and is not — worth it.

Bright Data Review: Quick Verdict

Bright Data is one of the most complete web data toolkits available, with every major proxy type plus APIs that handle blocks and CAPTCHAs for you. It is built for businesses: residential proxy access requires a registered company and identity verification, and pay-as-you-go rates are higher than smaller competitors. For teams collecting public web data at scale with compliance requirements, it is a strong option; for hobby projects, it is usually overkill.

Bright Data Pricing

Bright Data offers both pay-as-you-go and monthly commitment plans. Prices listed on its official pricing pages at the time of writing:

  • Residential proxies: $4/GB pay-as-you-go with no commitment; monthly plans from $499 (141 GB).
  • Datacenter proxies: from $1.40 per IP for 10 IPs on pay-as-you-go, decreasing with volume.
  • ISP proxies: from $1.80 per IP for 10 IPs on pay-as-you-go.
  • Web Unlocker and SERP API: $1.50 per 1,000 requests on pay-as-you-go, billed only for successful requests; $499/mo plans lower the per-request rate.
  • Browser API: $8/GB on pay-as-you-go.

Promotions and coupons frequently change the effective rate, and unused plan commitments do not roll over to the next month — so estimate your monthly volume before committing.

Free tier and trials

New accounts receive 5,000 free credits per month for the Unlocker, SERP, Scraper APIs, Scraper Studio and Browser API, with no card required. These credits do not cover proxies; proxy trials come with a small starting credit instead.

Residential Proxy Access: KYC Requirements

Since July 2026, Bright Data requires Know Your Customer (KYC) verification for all new residential proxy zones. According to its documentation:

  • Access is for registered businesses using a corporate email — free email accounts are refused and personal projects are not approved.
  • You add funds first; Bright Data says it responds to KYC requests within 48 hours.
  • Government websites are blocked on all networks, and targets outside your approved use case are blocked.
  • Without KYC you can still use datacenter and ISP proxies and the Web Unlocker.

Ethics and Compliance

Bright Data states that every residential IP comes from users who opted in through partner apps, are compensated (for example with an ad-free app experience) and can opt out at any time. It lists ISO 27001, SOC 2, SOC 3 and CSA STAR Level 1 certifications and says it complies with GDPR and CCPA. These are Bright Data’s own statements; we have not independently audited them. Whatever tool you use, only collect publicly available data, respect website terms and applicable laws, and avoid personal data unless you have a lawful basis.

Support

Bright Data advertises 24/7 support through its website, email, WhatsApp and Telegram, plus extensive developer documentation.
